“A fleet should validate both the physical design and the complete operating process before a full rollout.”

Confirm that tools and materials fit, weight is distributed properly, frequently used items are accessible, movement and visibility aren't compromised, and safety equipment can be reached easily.

“Everyone has an opinion. Facts and data are critical, while preferences and opinions need to be weighed against the initiatives’ big-picture objectives.”
Hudson recommends gathering input across job functions, experience levels, vehicle platforms, and operating regions—and going beyond surveys.
Ride-alongs. Technician workshops. Tool-and-material assessments. Prototype reviews.

“What people say they do and how they do it are not always the same.”
The goal isn't to give every technician whatever they want.
